Vermont Outdoor Business Alliance Survey

Vermont Outdoor Business Alliance Survey

Dear Vermont outdoor and outdoor-reliant businesses and organizations – The Vermont Outdoor Business Alliance (VOBA) is seeking your help in better understanding the different types of outdoor businesses and organizations that contribute economic impact to our Vermont communities, as well as understand the state of Vermont’s outdoor economy one year into the pandemic. As such they have created a survey to help them to this end.

If you are an outdoor or outdoor-reliant business or non-profit organization that produces, provides, or sells outdoor recreation-related products, services and experiences to Vermonters, visitors, or other businesses, thank you in advance for taking the confidential survey below. Your responses will inform outdoor sector support and development in the coming months. Below you will find both a blurb from the VOBA and the link to the survey. Please note that the survey has a deadline of March 15th to record responses.

“Vermont’s outdoor recreation economy is one of Vermont’s fastest growing sectors, contributing 5.2% to Vermont’s GDP in 2019. The pandemic has only heightened the importance of the outdoors as an economic driver for Vermont’s communities as people turn to the outdoors for physical activity and mental health.

This outdoor renaissance has benefited many outdoor and outdoor-reliant businesses and non-profit organizations that produce, provide, and sell outdoor recreation-related products, services and experiences to Vermonters, visitors, and other businesses. At the same time, the challenges of the pandemic have negatively impacted other businesses within this sector.

This survey seeks to capture the current scope and state of Vermont’s outdoor businesses and non-profits by gathering benchmark data, change and growth trends, and needs for future sector development in the areas of financing, workforce, infrastructure, and branding.

Individual data will not be shared. Feel free to pass over sections if you don’t have the data handy or the topic is not applicable to your business. Thanks in advance for your time and we look forward to working together to strengthen Vermont’s outdoor recreation economy into the future.”
