Notice of Public Hearing & Public Comment Period – former Valley Motors Sales site, 207 Pleasant St, Bethel

NOTICE IS HERBY GIVEN that a public hearing and 30-day public comment period is being held for all interested persons relative to the draft Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) for the property known as the former Valley Motor Sales property located at 207 Pleasant Street in Bethel, Vermont (the Site). The Site is owned by the Green Mountain Economic Development Corporation (GMEDC).

The project will be funded by Cooperative Agreement (CA) BF00A00762 with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). Once cleanup is completed, the proposed plan for redevelopment of the Site as a parking lot for GW Plastics, Inc., which adjoins the Site.

The draft ABCA summarizes the findings of previous investigations, presents a description and comparison of potential remediation options, and presents a proposed remediation plan. Copies of the draft ABCA and related documents are available for public review online at GMEDC’s website ( and at the following location:

The 30-day comment period begins with the publishing of this announcement and will end on September 6, 2021. The public is encouraged to review and comment on the draft ABCA during the public comment period.  To conduct a review of the ABCA, please contact the Bethel Town Clerk’s office at (802) 234-9722 during normal business hours:

Monday and Thursday: 8 AM to 4 PM

Tuesday, Wednesday: Friday 8 AM to 1 PM
