EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION

 

The Board of Directors is seeking an Executive Director with a passion for improving the lives of Vermonters and expanding GMEDC’s outreach.

 

GMEDC is one of twelve Regional Development corporations in Vermont and provides a broad range of services to foster economic development in its district of thirty towns in east central Vermont.  The Executive Director deals with businesses, community groups and numerous federal, state, and municipal agencies and the role varies widely from project to project. 

 

This is a dynamic position with numerous responsibilities reflecting the specific needs of each constituent. It requires a self-starter capable of working alone to initiate actions and achieve objectives.  The position demands an individual with a strong work ethic who is resourceful, entrepreneurial, energetic and tenacious when necessary.  The candidate must show respect for others and exhibit a clear ability to work well with Board members, coworkers, businesses, and with community, municipal and state officials and to take direction as required. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in an associated field with a minimum of five years of experience or ten years of directly related experience. General understanding of real estate transactions, land use planning, finance and grants, and effective written and oral presentation skills.  The ability to interact and relate successfully with constituents of diverse genders, socioeconomic, ethnic, and business backgrounds is extremely important.

 

Preferred Credentials:

A certified economic developer, with planning skills and familiarity with Vermont and federal stimulus grants and loan programs. Demonstrated grant management skills with a background in business management, real estate, finance, or not for profit administration.
